As the mother, wife, and daughter of US veterans - the care of our nation's servicemembers is personal to me.
As the mother, wife, and daughter of U.S. veterans, I believe our country has no greater responsibility than providing for our national defense and supporting the brave men and women who fight to protect our freedoms. Like many Tennesseans, I am outraged by the unacceptable wait times, claim backlogs, and pure lack of accountability displayed at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Following reports of negligence and unacceptable wait times at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the House has voted with my support to boost VA funding, allow the VA Secretary to immediately fire underperforming executives who fail in their duty to our veterans, and empower veterans facing long wait times to seek care in the private sector at no additional cost to them.
I am dedicated to ensuring that our veterans receive the benefits they deserve. For this reason, I have supported legislation such as the Show America’s Veterans You’ve Got Their Six Act, the Faster Care for Veterans Act, and the Veteran Transplant Coverage Act – bills that provide a greater quality of healthcare to service members and their families. Our veterans have fulfilled their commitment to our country in ways that most of us can only imagine, and they deserve the finest medical treatment we can provide them.
