Congressman Diane Black

Representing the 6th District of Tennessee

My decades as a registered nurse, along with my Christian faith, have informed my view that all life is sacred and worthy of our protection.

I am relentless in my passionate defense of the rights of the unborn, and am honored to further the pro-life effort as a member of the House’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, which is tasked with investigating the big abortion industry’s trafficking of baby body parts for profit. My work to defend life has earned me a 100% pro-life voting record from National Right to Life.

In Congress, I authored and successfully passed through the House the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015, legislation to combat the abuses of life at the nation’s largest abortion provider by stripping Planned Parenthood of its taxpayer funding.  I additionally sponsored the House-passed Conscience Protection Act, a bill to protect the religious freedom of pro-life Americans by preventing government discrimination against healthcare entities that refuse to participate in abortion.

I have been honored to cosponsor a number of other pro-life measures including the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, and the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, because I believe it is our responsibility and privilege as legislators to protect those who do not have a voice. As your representative, I will continue working to uphold the rights of our nation’s unborn.
