Black Statement on Senate Passage of 1099 Repeal
Washington, D.C. —Today, U.S. Representative Diane Black (R-TN), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement on the Senate’s bipartisan vote to repeal the1099 tax reporting provisions of the health care law.
“Senate passage of the 1099 repeal is a victory for taxpayers and the American Small Businesses that would have been buried in paperwork because of 1099 reporting requirements. The 1099 provision—a major funding source of ObamaCare—would take precious time and resources away from business owners, forcing them to spend hours filling out IRS tax forms instead of selling their goods, hiring more workers, or growing their business.
“Today, the bill the House passed last month received bipartisan support in the Senate. Now I can only hope that the president will quickly sign the repeal into law.
“Passage of 1099 repeal through Congress is a huge victory but it’s just the start. I am committed to going after senseless regulations and getting government out of the way, so businesses can grow our economy, and America can prosper again. And I am committed to repealing the president’s health care law piece by piece—by going after its funding sources, halting the tax hikes and wiping out the slush funds—and getting the federal government out of individuals health care decisions.”
