Rep. Black Statement on the Federal Government Reopening
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) released the following statement after Congress passed the continuing resolution to fund the government until February 8, 2018:
“This government shutdown was a needless and irresponsible ploy by the Senate Democrats that should have never happened. It was a political game by Chuck Schumer creating an artificial deadline for DACA and holding the Children’s Health Insurance Program and military pay hostage. Democrats chose to place their immigration agenda over the wellbeing of American citizens – our children and military deserved better. I am pleased to see this shutdown come to an end so we can continue working on a solution to our illegal immigration problem.”
