Rep. Black Statement on Repeal of WOTUS: A Win for Landowners
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) released the following statement in response to Administrator Scott Pruitt’s decision to roll back the Waters of the United States rule:
“The Waters of the United States rule went far beyond the scope of the Clean Water Act and gave the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers new jurisdiction over ditches, ponds, prairie potholes, flood plains and other features that were never intended to be regulated under the law,” said Congressman Black. “This Obama-era regulation has led to new costs and uncertainty for landowners. I’m thankful that Administrator Pruitt is rolling back this overreaching rule and removing yet another radical environmental restriction against the private property rights of landowners.”
Congressman Diane Black represents Tennessee’s 6th Congressional District. A nurse for more than 40 years, she serves as Chairman of the House Budget Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee.
