Rep. Black Statement on Tax Reform 2.0 Passing Committee
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Diane Black (R-TN-06) released the following statement after the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee passed Tax Reform 2.0:
“Last December, we reformed our broken tax code for the first time in thirty years so that it worked for our economy and hard-working Americans. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle have tried to sell this as a ‘giveaway to corporations and a scam.’ But that could not be further from the truth. In my home district, I have heard testimonies from small business owners who are now able to give their employees bonuses and raises. Families share stories about saving more for their future and breathing easier when it comes to life’s unexpected challenges. That is what tax reform is all about – it is not ‘crumbs,’ and it is not a giveaway to our nation’s top earners. It is about making a difference in the lives of Americans working hard to provide for their children and families, and this legislation will make that difference permanent.”
The Tax Reform 2.0 package includes the Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act of 2018 (H.R. 6760), the Family Savings Act of 2018 (H.R. 6757) and the American Innovation Act of 2018 (H.R. 6756). In addition to giving permanent relief to individual taxpayers, the legislation encourages retirement and family savings, and promotes new business innovation.
